Josh Green heads to Utah as Williams and Konchar go to Minnesota

Minnesota has agreed to send Josh Green and cash to Utah for Cody Williams and John Konchar, according to ESPN sources and Shams Charania, a swap of wing depth that also helps the Timberwolves duck a projected second-apron overage.

Minnesota plans to keep Williams, the No. 10 pick in the 2024 draft, rather than trade him again, while waiving and stretching Konchar's $6.16 million salary.

Charania adds that shedding Green's $14.7 million cap hit gives Minnesota room to sign Jonathan Kuminga using the taxpayer midlevel exception, and ESPN's Bobby Marks notes the swap leaves the Timberwolves roughly $6.5 million below the second apron.

Green lands in Utah as the team's third-highest-paid player behind Jaren Jackson Jr. and Lauri Markkanen, with the deal clearing bench minutes for Darryn Peterson, Ace Bailey and Keyonte George while Green is expected to fill a limited reserve role for the Jazz.
