James Johnson agrees to Exhibit 9 camp deal with Indiana
James Johnson has agreed to a non-guaranteed training camp contract with the Pacers, according to Jake Fischer. Tony East reports the deal carries Exhibit 9 language, with the 39-year-old having joined Indiana's players-only mini-camp in Nashville before camp opens next week.
Johnson has been out of the league since his last contract expired in June 2025, having made just 39 appearances for the Pacers from 2022-25.
Indiana has only $2.2M below the first apron, so unless a trade clears space, a return to the opening night roster looks unlikely before the November 5 date when a 15th roster spot opens up.
