Hornets, Miller in talks for extension that could hit $200M
The Hornets are in substantial talks with Brandon Miller on a rookie-scale extension projected north of $200 million over five years, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports.
ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel reports both sides have cited recent deals for Franz Wagner, OG Anunoby and Amen Thompson as reference points, with Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report noting the $208 million deal Thompson signed with Houston. No agreement has been finalized.
Windhorst said Charlotte's cap flexibility after moving on from Miles Bridges and LaMelo Ball has made signing Miller a priority. Siegel expects Miller to sign before 2026-27 begins; if talks stall, he'd become a restricted free agent in 2027 with Charlotte holding matching rights.
Miller, entering the final year of his rookie deal, averaged 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists last season on a career-best 38.3% from three.
