Henderson's extension outlook cloudy as Blazers deadline nears

Scoot Henderson is eligible for a five-year extension worth up to $252.3M, but insider Zach Lowe says he has no read on whether it happens. Portland's deadline to offer one is Oct. 19, after which Henderson plays out his contract and hits restricted free agency next summer.

The Blazers already have Damian Lillard, Ja Morant and Jrue Holiday crowding the backcourt, though their cap situation could technically accommodate a new deal. Lowe noted Henderson's jumper and playoff scoring improved last season, but his rim finishing, turnovers and defense still lag expectations.
