Heat weighing Richards, Vincent, Johnson for final spot
Miami is reportedly set to sign Klay Thompson once he clears waivers Sunday following his buyout with Dallas, using part of its Non-Taxpayer MLE.
Marc Stein of The Stein Line puts the deal at two years and $11.5 million, below the $13 million first reported, and says the Heat sit $5.2 million under the first apron with room for two veteran-minimum signings.
Thompson becomes the 13th player on a standard contract, leaving at least one spot to fill under the 14-man requirement, and Miami is interested in free agents Nick Richards, Gabe Vincent and Keshad Johnson.
Richards averaged 5.8 points and 5.1 rebounds last season between Chicago and Phoenix, per Stein. Vincent is a free agent after last season in Atlanta, while Johnson spent the past two years in Miami.
