Heat roster crunch leaves no room for D'Angelo Russell
Bleacher Report's Adam Wells had named Miami the likeliest landing spot for D'Angelo Russell after Memphis waived him, ahead of Charlotte and Denver, citing thin depth behind Davion Mitchell.
NBA insider Brett Siegel reported Russell wants to join a playoff contender, and Heat insider Ira Winderman said Miami's roster and cap flexibility made him worth a look, with one open roster spot still available.
Miami Herald reporter Barry Jackson reports the Heat actually have no interest in signing Russell.
Jackson notes Miami is set to hit its 21-player limit once Ezra Ausar's and Ian Schieffelin's Exhibit 10 deals are finalized, meaning a player like Myron Gardner would need to be cut to add Russell or Ryan Nembhard, something Jackson calls unlikely.
