Heat paid $1.5M to jump Boston and grab Ryan Conwell
The Heat sent the 41st pick and cash to Oklahoma City for pick No. 37, jumping ahead of Boston's slot at 40 to take Ryan Conwell.
Five Reasons Sports Network's Ethan Skolnick, speaking on the Heat Collective podcast, said the move cost owner Micky Arison $1.5 million and was made specifically because Boston wanted Conwell at No. 40.
The Louisville guard averaged 18.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists as a senior, after previously shooting well from three at Indiana State and Xavier.
Boston instead took St. John's forward Dillon Mitchell at No. 40, a different kind of prospect than the shooter it reportedly targeted. Neither team has publicly confirmed the rivalry over Conwell.
