Hayes steps into Jazz starting five as Nurkic deals with injury

Jaxson Hayes moved into Utah's starting lineup after Jusuf Nurkic's injury and is expected to keep the role to start the season. Elsewhere, Ja Morant made his Trail Blazers preseason debut alongside Damian Lillard, posting eight points and five assists in 19 minutes.

Lillard said he feels fully recovered from his ruptured Achilles and plans to compete in the Three-Point Shootout. Thunder guard Jalen Williams looked healthy in his own preseason debut, scoring 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
