Gobert extension talks with Minnesota show little momentum
The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski said on his podcast there's no serious push toward a new deal for Rudy Gobert in Minnesota.
Gobert is entering year two of a three-year, $109.5 million contract that carries a $38 million player option for 2027-28, with his current salary around $31-33 million.
An extension could again trim his annual number in exchange for long-term security, similar to his last deal, though Krawczynski said the Timberwolves will merely explore it for now.
Minnesota shed Julius Randle and Naz Reid's salaries to land LaMelo Ball and other pieces, leaving Gobert as the roster's only proven big man.
