Four-team idea sends Derrick Jones Jr. to Lakers for Knecht
A proposed four-team trade would send Derrick Jones Jr. from Dallas to the Lakers, reuniting him with Luka Doncic. Los Angeles would give up Dalton Knecht to the Mavericks along with cash, while Daniel Gafford would head to the Clippers and Jake LaRavia plus cash would go to Chicago.
The pitch is framed as a way for Los Angeles to trim its roster from 16 to 15 while adding a wing defender on an expiring $10.4M deal.
Lakers insider Jovan Buha has separately said the more likely path is waiving one of Knecht, Bronny James or Jaden Hardy, and general manager Rob Pelinka has floated a simple 2-for-1 trade as another option.
