Duren tops list of best free agents still unsigned
Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report ranks Jalen Duren as the top remaining free agent, ahead of Bruce Brown Jr. and Gabe Vincent, with Kevin Love, Cam Thomas and Kelly Olynyk also unsigned.
The restricted Pistons center could take a one-year, $9.6 million qualifying offer if talks stall, becoming unrestricted next summer. Marc Stein reports Duren is increasingly weighing that option as talks drag toward an October 1 deadline, though Stein notes skepticism he'd actually risk it.
Duren's camp wants a deal worth more than $40 million annually, while Detroit has offered around $35 million per year over five years, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon. No other team has the cap space to offer a sheet, leaving Detroit negotiating largely with itself.
