Duren-Pistons split widens, sign-and-trade path grows more likely

Jalen Duren's extension talks with Detroit have stalled and the relationship has soured, according to Sportando. Detroit isn't expected to raise its offer, and Duren reportedly wants out, with a sign-and-trade before camp seen as likely. He could sign in Detroit only to be moved elsewhere immediately.

Sacramento offered Domantas Sabonis for Duren, but Detroit passed, according to ESPN's Brett Siegel. The Pistons prefer keeping Duren as their long-term center over trading for a proven veteran.

Duren is seeking over $200 million, which Detroit has been reluctant to pay after a rough playoff run. Without a deal before camp, Duren could take the qualifying offer, with Sacramento still lurking for next summer.

ESPN's Marc Spears reports Washington has also entered talks for Duren, with a possible package of Alex Sarr, Khris Middleton and draft picks headed to Detroit.
