Duren agrees to fully guaranteed 5-year, $200M deal with Detroit
Jalen Duren has agreed to a five-year, fully guaranteed $200 million extension with Detroit, agent Chafie Fields told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The deal ends a months-long restricted free agency standoff that saw Duren skip media day and training camp while weighing Detroit's $9.6 million qualifying offer and nearly accepting it outright.
Detroit's final offer landed well above the $170-190 million range it had floated over the summer, though below the full $287 million max Duren's All-NBA third-team nod made him eligible for.
A breakout season averaging 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds built his case, but a rough playoff showing weakened his leverage in the negotiations.
