Draymond Green back with Warriors on new deal
Warriors beat writer Marcus Thompson said on Kevin O'Connor's podcast that Golden State could trade Draymond Green by the February deadline if the season goes sideways, since he becomes movable after December 15.
He noted the Warriors deliberately left Green without a no-trade clause on his one-year, $27.8M deal, keeping him available as a chip. Thompson said Jimmy Butler's expiring deal makes him movable too, while Stephen Curry stays put regardless.
Kristaps Porzingis, Moses Moody and Brandin Podziemski were also named as possible trade pieces before the deadline. One hypothetical, unsourced idea would send Green and Moody to Orlando for Paolo Banchero.
The report argues expiring contracts are regaining trade value as teams lean less on automatic extensions, listing Green among 15 players entering the season with expiring deals over $20 million.
