Davis to weigh Wizards future after 2026-27 season plays out

Anthony Davis said at Wizards media day that he intends to play out the 2026-27 season before deciding whether to exercise his $62.8M player option for 2027-28. He cited the arrival of top pick AJ Dybantsa and trades for Khris Middleton and Deandre Ayton as reasons for optimism about the team's direction.

The Athletic reported that Davis and the Wizards agreed to hold off extension talks until after the season starts. A four-year, $275M max extension remains theoretically possible, though unlikely given his age and injury history.
