Curry's unsigned extension could hang over Golden State all season
Stephen Curry became eligible over the weekend for a two-year, $136.7 million max extension with the Warriors, and Nick Friedell of The Athletic writes any delay reaching a deal could hang over Golden State all season.
ESPN's Anthony Slater reports both sides want Curry to finish his career there, with a choice between signing before June 30 or waiting until next summer for a three-year, $212.9 million deal via free agency, which ESPN's Brian Windhorst notes would also open roughly $65 million in cap space for the Warriors.
General manager Mike Dunleavy said he's confident Curry wants to stay, and owner Joe Lacob said he's never heard any indication otherwise. ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel says there have been no trade talks and expects Curry to retire a Warrior, while noting the Over-38 rule limits his current extension options.
