Curry and Warriors set to open extension talks on August 29

Golden State and Stephen Curry are expected to begin extension talks the moment he becomes eligible on August 29, with ESPN's Anthony Slater reporting both sides want him to stay a Warrior for life.

The max is two years, $136.7 million, through his age-40 season, atop a current one-year deal worth $62.5 million for 2026-27 per Spotrac, slightly below the $62.6 million first cited.

General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. said the topic has come up repeatedly and he's confident Curry finishes his career in Golden State, wanting him back regardless of cost, though no deal is signed.

Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area's Dalton Johnson he intends to stay long-term and isn't letting the talks distract from the season. Passing on the extension would give the Warriors 2027 cap room, with Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green also on expiring deals.
