Champagnie reflects on $45M extension, Barnes set for third year in San Antonio
Julian Champagnie signed a three-year, $45M extension with San Antonio in late June after taking Harrison Barnes' starting spot last season.
He told San Antonio Express-News reporter Tom Orsborn the deal validated a path that began when Philadelphia waived him in 2023 before the Spurs claimed him off waivers days later.
Barnes himself is back for a third season on a one-year, $8M deal, saying he's comfortable with a reduced role after re-signing in free agency. Coach Mitch Johnson also confirmed Billy Donovan has joined his staff as top assistant.
