Celtics floated as speculative landing spot for Towns
On The Athletic's Celtics Daily podcast, James Edwards III floated Karl-Anthony Towns as a speculative fit for Boston should his extension talks with New York stall, comparing the potential role to Al Horford's past stint with the Celtics.
Host Bobby Manning pushed back, asking why the Knicks would deal Towns to a conference rival, floating Paul George and picks as a hypothetical return. Edwards called it speculation, noting no deal is currently available and that neither reporter suggested Boston has approached New York.
Towns remains under contract with the Knicks and could opt out of his $61M player option next summer, with the two sides reportedly discussing an extension in the $45-50M annual range against a max value near $276M over four years.
