Bucks lock in Gary Trent Jr. on multi-year deal
The NBA has brought in law firm Hecker Fink to investigate Gary Trent Jr.'s four-year, $64 million deal with Milwaukee, The Athletic's Joe Vardon reports. Investigators are examining whether Trent took smaller contracts earlier in his career on the understanding the Bucks would later pay him big.
He signed for the minimum in 2024, made $3.7 million last season, then landed over $15 million annually off an 8.1-point year shooting 39 percent.
Milwaukee and Klutch Sports are said to be cooperating, with no public evidence yet of any secret arrangement. The Joe Smith case, which cost Minnesota five first-round picks, is the nearest precedent for how severe a penalty could get.
