Blazers gamble on Morant, send Grant and Murray to Memphis

Portland acquired Ja Morant from Memphis in exchange for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray, Yahoo Sports reports. Morant struggled early last season but surged after a calf injury, averaging 28.5 points per 36 minutes on 58.7% true shooting over his final eight games before a season-ending elbow injury.

The Blazers are betting his late-season form, not his rocky start, reflects who he still is at 27. He joins a roster built around Deni Avdija, Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday and Toumani Camara as Portland looks to jump from the lottery into contention.
