Ben Simmons agrees to one-year, $3.5M deal with Kings
Ben Simmons has agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Sacramento Kings, according to Shams Charania, with only $1 million guaranteed.
The 30-year-old three-time All-Star sat out all of last season, reportedly to heal his body, after going unsigned. Sacramento had been interested in Simmons for over a year before landing him, and the Knicks were also among the teams linked to him.
The deal is a low-cost bet for a Kings team that finished with the West's worst record last season, with no guarantee Simmons cracks the rotation. Former NBA player Richard Jefferson said on ESPN Australia that a healthy Simmons has the talent to make an All-Star team and win Defensive Player of the Year.
