Ausar Thompson agrees to five-year, $155M rookie extension

Ausar Thompson has agreed to a fully guaranteed five-year, $155 million rookie-scale extension with Detroit, averaging $31 million per season, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.

The deal keeps the All-Defensive forward with the Pistons long-term, coming after a season in which he led the league in steals, earned All-Defensive First Team honors and finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Charania noted that Thompson and his twin brother, Amen Thompson, are now the first pair of brothers in NBA history to each sign extensions worth more than $100 million, combining for $363 million this offseason. Amen signed a five-year, $208 million extension with Houston earlier in September.

Separately, Pistons center Jalen Duren remains an unresigned restricted free agent, with reports linking him to Sacramento even as Detroit says it wants to keep him.
