Anonymous executives gave Heavy their estimates for what it would take to land three trade-market names. One Western Conference exec pegs Trey Murphy's price at a good rotation player plus two firsts, down from the four-first-rounder asks the Pelicans have floated before.
A rundown of stars unlikely to move before the season but plausible in February: Jimmy Butler on an expiring $57 million deal in Golden State as he rehabs a torn ACL, Anthony Davis in Washington after both sides agreed to postpone extension talks, Kyrie Irving with two years and $82 million left in Dallas, and Zion Williamson needing a second healthy season to draw calls.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report sketched a Warriors-Pistons-Mavericks deal built around Detroit landing Kyrie Irving, with P.J. Washington and Taurean Prince going to Golden State plus two Detroit second-rounders, and Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody heading to Dallas.
+2A hypothetical three-team deal would send Kyrie Irving from Dallas to Boston, with the Mavericks taking back Jimmy Butler, Baylor Scheierman and first-rounders in 2028 (via Golden State), 2031 and 2033 (via Boston). Golden State would land Derrick White and P.J. Washington in the same idea.
+5Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley floated a three-team deal sending Kyrie Irving and Naji Marshall from Dallas to Detroit for Ron Holland II, Daniss Jenkins, Duncan Robinson, a 2028 first-rounder and two future seconds.
One trade idea has Joel Embiid moving to the Wizards with Anthony Davis and a 2027 second-round pick going the other way. The argument: Davis has already won a title next to LeBron James, now in Philadelphia, while Washington gambles on Embiid's health.
Kurt Helin of NBC Sports reports the Lakers and Hawks are back in sign-and-trade talks over Jonathan Kuminga, with Jaden Hardy and his $6 million salary now the outgoing piece instead of Jared Vanderbilt's $12.4 million.
Marc Stein of The Stein Line reports that rival teams are still monitoring Kyrie Irving's standing with the Mavericks ahead of the February 11 deadline, with Masai Ujiri said to want a look at Irving alongside Cooper Flagg first.
Marc Stein reports that Dallas has repeatedly brushed off trade interest in Kyrie Irving this offseason, but rival teams are waiting to see whether that stance survives until the February 11 deadline. The obvious tension: Irving is 34, Cooper Flagg is 19, and Dallas wants Irving mentoring Flagg rather than moving him.
Irving is floated as heading back to the Celtics, with Dallas taking Derrick White, Baylor Scheierman, a 2031 first-rounder and a 2031 second. The argument is that Boston's window with Jayson Tatum is open now while the Mavericks build around Cooper Flagg.
