A proposed deal would send New Orleans forward Herbert Jones and Croatian big man Karlo Matkovic to Los Angeles for Dalton Knecht and Jaden Hardy. The Lakers would use a trade exception and a non-taxpayer midlevel slot to absorb the incoming salaries, meaning New Orleans avoids adding payroll.
Lakers analyst Trevor Lane says Los Angeles must decide by October 31 whether to pick up Dalton Knecht's $6.4 million team option, and says he would currently expect them to pass. Knecht's scoring fell from 9.1 points as a rookie to 4.2 last season with reduced minutes.
+2A trade idea would send Brook Lopez and Derrick Jones Jr. from the Clippers to the Lakers in exchange for Jaden Hardy, Jake LaRavia and Dalton Knecht.
Sean Deveney has reported the Lakers have shopped Jarred Vanderbilt and Dalton Knecht without finding a taker, while Jaden Hardy is simply someone the team wants off the roster. Jake LaRavia's modest expiring $6 million deal is seen as the easiest of the four to move, given the Lakers' roster crunch above the limit.
+3A hypothetical three-team trade would send Patrick Williams and Isaac Okoro from Chicago to the Lakers, while Jerami Grant would go from Memphis to the Bulls. Los Angeles would ship out Jarred Vanderbilt, Jaden Hardy and Dalton Knecht to Memphis.
A trade idea floated by Heavy would send Derrick Jones Jr. from the Clippers to the Lakers, reuniting him with Luka Doncic after the two shared the 2024 Finals run in Dallas.
Sean Deveney reports the Lakers tried to use Jaden Hardy as a piece in a Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade with Atlanta, and now that deal has fallen through, they simply want to move on from him.
Heavy Sports' Adam Ahmed floated a trade sending Brook Lopez from the Clippers to the Lakers in exchange for Jaden Hardy and Washington's 2031 second-round pick, an idea also raised by Lakers insider Khobi Price.
+3Three late-summer money moves are pitched, none of them reported as under discussion. One would send Josh Green from Minnesota to Memphis for D'Angelo Russell and Kris Murray, saving the Wolves just over $3 million so they can complete Jonathan Kuminga's two-year, $12.4 million deal.
A trade proposal would send Ty Jerome from Memphis to Los Angeles, with Jaden Hardy and 2031 and 2032 second-round picks going back the other way.
